This comedy-adventure series follows four neighbors-turned-friends as they navigate their mid-twenties in an urban fantasy world. It explores today’s dilemmas against a rousing mythical backdrop.

Our heroes—Danny, Sanjay, Theo, and Toast the cat—aim to help a powerful mage, Gary the Wizard, grow the best magic weed in the Seven Realms.

Similar to how stoners enjoy the relaxing and euphoric vibes of smoking a joint, Recreational will bring those same intoxicating feelings to the screen, whether you partake in weed or not.

The Realms

In a vast sea of celestial magic lies the Earthen Plane and its Seven Realms, where vibrant communities and mythical creatures abound.

Arcane Engineers in the Asian Realm develop advanced enchanted technology. Witches throughout the African Realm further magical theory thanks to their long history practicing the craft. And, the North American Realm is home to a multicultural and magically diverse population.

In that Realm is Denver, Colorado, the home of our heroes. Within its limits are the Weird Woods, an endless forest with countless magical communities. Not far is Olivine University, a prestigious college that educates students in magical fields. Close to the college is Stoney Creek Apartments, the small yet highly sought-after complex.

The city is home to countless adventures that will test the Party as they learn how to become proper adventurers.

The Magic

Magic is alive, everywhere, from the smallest spec of sand to the largest star in the sky. Trees bear vitality-restoring fruit. Rivers change color with the seasons. Charmrocks power everything from cars to cellphones.

Many creatures have innate magical abilities. Merfolk take different forms on land and in water. Centaurs can camouflage themselves on command. Halflings go unseen at will.

Humans, by and large, cannot do magic, but they were the founders of Witchcraft: The study and use of magical tools, enchanted books, and arcane objects.

The most powerful magical beings are the Wizards. These mages can cast immense and formidable spells.

While some practice gamic, a dark offshoot of Witchcraft, the majority have a reverence for magic and the role it plays in their world.

Characters

Theo williams

Arcane Engineer, Strategist

Theo is an Arcane Engineer who is exploring a big world for the very first time. He makes countless enchanted gizmos for the Party's adventures, whether that’s a never-ending rope or insta-shield sunglasses.

Danny O'Hara

Wizard, Frontline Swordfighter

Danny is a newly appointed magical apprentice who is trying to find her place in the world. As an adventurer, she defaults to playing the hero. When a Cave Troll attacks, Danny is the first to try to punch it in the face.

Sanjay Ramachandran

Witch, Cutlural Expert

Sanjay is a Witchcraft student who is aiming to put his practice to the test. He is a compass when navigating the Magical world, whether that's translating ancient Dwarfish runes or ensuring his friends respect Fairy Folk customs.

Toast the cat

Wizard's Familiar, Stoner Loaf

Toast is Danny’s fire-breathing sidekick and Wizard familiar. During adventures, he's there to provide dry commentary or to create a distraction using his adorable face. Plus, he's always ready to cat-claw monsters

GARY THE Wizard

Horticulturalists, Old

Gary is a great mage who is reentering the world he left behind. Despite his laid-back persona, he is known among his peers as a formidable caster. And for thousands of years he has been the sole grower of magic weed.

Rosa Gonzales

Co-owner of Stoney Creek, she is a stellar Property Manager. Her can-do attitude attracts both friends and customers. Rosa is a proud Trans Woman and provides a safe haven for disadvantaged folk at Stoney Creek.

Marta Gonzales

The other complex co-owner is the Maintenance whiz who keeps the building in tip-top shape. Residents rarely deal with a lack of hot water or busted ice maker. But if they do, Marta's there. Her dry wit keeps others laughing.

Dr. Yanin Suwan

Dr. Suwan is a High Elf from South Korea, the head of the Herbology Department at Olivine University, and Sanjay’s former professor. She is a leading academic in her field. Many lean on her expertise in the art of plant-based Witchcraft.

Richard Loch

The top Ph.D. student at Olivine University, he studies Arcane Herbology. His colleagues describe him as a considerate and talented student. He served as a TA for Sanjay, who regards Richard as a cute

genius.

Willie Wizzle

Willie is the mascot of the largest dope operation in Colorado, Willie Wizzle’s Weed Farm. Once a famous Country singer, he was hired by the Dibby Dabbies, sentient weed creatures, to help sell their weed.

Gorgon Ramsey

Gorgon Ramsey has been the celebrity judge of the annual Denver Hatch Green Chili Cook-Off for years. Winners earn a spot on his reality show, Spell's Kitchen, losers might just get petrified.

Green Elephant

The Green Elephant is the patron spirit of the winter holiday, Solstmas. And much to the joy of stoners, also loves smoking weed. On Solstmas Eve, stoners pay homage by hosting a gathering and gift exchange.
